What to expect
Smart laser-based Additive Manufacturing enables new approaches to production. It allows novel designs and functions. The LZH is constantly developing and optimizing processes for additive manufacturing, developing technologies for processing new materials and thus enabling additive manufacturing processes to be established in industrial production. The LZH experts automate processes and process chains and integrate them into existing systems. Intelligent process monitoring in interaction with digital twins and artificial intelligence, will allow corrections to be made in the running printing process in the future.
This 1-day industry training course provides engineers and product developers with useful technical insights and skills in laser-based Additive Manufacturing concerning the basic understanding of the technical requirements of the machinery used, the possibilities for product design and development, the practical application of different processes, as well as the characterisation of the product properties and the quality assessment. The course covers the key aspects of different Laser-Additive Manufacturing processes, including wire-based and powder-based Laser Directed Energy Deposition, Stereolithography as well as Laser Powder Bed Fusion, covering the material groups of metals, polymers and glass. Apart from single-material processes, multi-material or hybrid processes are presented. Instrumentation, process preparation, practical manufacturing and properties characterisation are illustrated with demonstrations, and hands-on experience, regarding in particular the practical process preparation and the manufacturing of workpieces with state-of-the-art laser-additive manufacturing machines. Practical applications from different industry sectors serve as illustrations.
This unique industry ‘hands-on’ training program includes dedicated tutorials, tutorial material, and mentoring by technical experts. Attendees will experience access to state-of-the-art facilities and hands-on experience with top notch equipment.
